Empowering regional communities with knowledge on mental health.

Educating our rural communities.

Mental health challenges are likely to affect every individual in Australia, either directly or indirectly at some point in their life.  When someone faces these challenges, it's often the immediate support network, comprising of family, friends, colleagues and their community who become the crucial 'first responders.'

The ability to discuss mental health openly, backed by confidence and knowledge, is a vital skill for everyone in the community - even more so in rural and regional areas where these resources are not readily available.

Practical Learning

Our aim is to raise funds to support the Country Education Foundation in providing Mental Health First Aid Australia's education courses to the broader CEF network, with the initial aim to educate 300 members of the rural community.

Support for Tertiary Students

The funds will also assist in providing an annual scholarship in Jess Walker’s memory to a recipient looking to study and work in the mental health sector.

Empowering ‘First Responders’

It’s often the strength of the community around someone who is facing mental health challenges that can be the key to recognising and responding to that challenge in the best way - and potentially intervening early enough to make a difference to the outcome.

“We believe strongly in the positive and far-reaching community impact of improved mental health literacy in rural and regional areas.”
